Veterans deserve care from the best

Our top doctors understand your service and unique needs

Kaiser Permanente is honored to provide best in class health care to active military, veterans, first responders, and their families. Many of our physicians have served in these roles themselves and understand exactly how to provide informed, compassionate care to veterans — and our specialists have the expertise to treat any condition. Kaiser Permanente physicians know which members have served in the military and can screen and monitor for complex conditions that may appear later.

Best in class care

Many of our 1,800+ physicians have been recognized as Top Doctors,1 and our health plans are top-rated in the region — and among the top-rated in the nation. They practice in the Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group (MAPMG), the largest multispecialty medical group in the region, which exclusively treats our members. Our quality of care has been recognized across the nation by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA),2 Insure.com,3 the Commission on Cancer (CoC),4 and more.

Patient-first approach

Our doctors are trained to quickly diagnose and treat many conditions you may have incurred during your service as a result of injury, exposure, or trauma. They get to know you as a patient and an individual so they can personalize your care.

Your doctors, specialists, pharmacists, and other providers form your coordinated care team, led by your primary care doctor. With shared access to your digital health record, they’re always up to date on your health and work together and with you to personalize your care.

VA support and claims

No matter where or how you choose to receive care, your Kaiser Permanente care team will coordinate with your VA providers to support your overall health. Your primary care doctor will also help you submit claims like nexus letters for disability care. Together, you can make the best case for yourself to secure the support and benefits you deserve.

Specialty care spotlight

Our physicians and clinicians have served honorably around the world and at home, including Operations Enduring Freedom, Desert Storm, Hurricane Katrina, and other military campaigns, as well as the COVID-19 pandemic.

You’ll find that your primary care doctor and care team are passionate about getting to know you as a patient and an individual. They combine this knowledge with the latest research and innovative technology to provide you with best in class care that’s recognized across the nation.5
